Ubisoft New Assassin’s Creed Shadows Gameplay Revealed

An Assassin's Creed Shadows gameplay walkthrough was unveiled by the team at the Ubisoft Forward Conference. The game will take players into the chaos of 16th-century Japan.

Lead by Ubisoft Québec* in development, the game will launch globally on November 15th on Ubisoft+, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, Macs running Apple hardware through the Mac App Store, and Windows PCs via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store.

In a curious decision that demonstrates the state of hardware development, Ubisoft also said today that the game will be available for the iPad at a later time.

Here is the gameplay walkthrough mission for Fukuchiyama, a castle town in Tamba Province, where Naoe and Yasuke are on the quest for a corrupted daimyo. The combat-focused Samurai Yasuke and the nimble and sneaky Shinobi Naoe are the two playable heroes, and their complementing dynamic is demonstrated in the gameplay.

They will come together around shared objectives after initially fighting on opposing sides. In the open world, players will have the flexibility to swap between characters at any time, use their distinct combination of abilities and weaponry to confront a variety of scenarios and foes in various ways as they usher in a new age for Japan.

The spirit of a Shinobi Assassin is Naoe. She has access to a wide range of weapons to strike from the shadows, including a flexible grappling hook that enables more covert in-air killings and increased mobility, kunai, and her unique Hidden Blade for quick kills. Although she is more vulnerable in close quarters, she can evade, deflect, and strike back with deadly accuracy, using the light and the surrounding structures to bring her enemies to ground.

Because of his remarkable fighting prowess and command of Samurai weapons, Yasuke is suited for close quarters combat. He has the ability to deal with several attackers at once, whether he chooses to use the Katana for incisive attacks, the Kanabo for raw force, or the deadly Teppo flint gun for close-quarters combat.

On November 12, players who purchase the Collector Edition, Ultimate Edition, Gold Edition, or have a Ubisoft+ Premium subscription can access the game three days early. An extra mission will be included with any pre-ordered copy for Assassin’s Creed Shadows fans.
